HOMEWORK POLICY

Dear Parents,

I would like to welcome everyone to the fifth grade at Robert Down School. As we head into the school year, I hope that your child is beginning to get into the habit of studying on a daily basis, at least an hour each evening.

I understand that many children have other activities after school in which they participate, making completion of homework difficult at times. To remedy this situation, I have put together a homework packet that will be handed out on Monday of every week and handed in on the following Friday. This will serve two purposes. First, it will give students a bigger window of time to complete the assignments. Secondly, this allows me more teaching time in the classroom, seeing as we won't be correcting the previous night's homework during our precious class time. Homework will always consist of concepts that we have already learned, and are now being reviewed.

It is important that your child complete ALL of their homework by Friday after the packet is given. It is equally important that a parent/guardian initial each assignment and sign at the bottom of the front page. This lets me know that a parent/guardian has taken a look at their child's homework for that evening and has made sure that it has been completed.

Occasionally, there will be additional homework that may not appear in the packet. This will be the case with long-term homework such as book reports, state reports, etc.

I thank you again for your continued participation in your child's education and I look forward to an academically prosperous year.

Sincerely,
Mr. Ibrahim

CLASS DISCIPLINE PLAN

I would like to welcome you and tell you how thrilled I am to have each of you in my class. I know this year will be an exciting one with many new learning and fun activities.

You have finally reached the time when you are the oldest students at Robert Down Elementary. I will expect you to be good role models for the younger students in every way. I have a discipline plan that will be in effect in and out of the classroom at all times.
